Carbon graphite seal faces or rings are not recommended for aqua regia, oleum or perchloric acid. Resin-impregnated carbon seal rings or faces in common use are attacked by lithium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium metophosphate, anhydrous ammonia, sodium diphosphate and sodium cyanide.
