Product Description Silicon carbide (SiC) is an exceptionally hard and strong ceramic material known for its outstanding strength and hardness properties, thermal stability and corrosion resistance properties. Reaction bonded silicon carbide is an extremely hard and tough material with excellent compressive strength at ambient temperature and resistance to air oxidation, corrosion from acids and abrasion. RB SiC can be produced in various shapes and sizes with superior as-fired dimensional accuracy, which allows us to fabricate components such as burner nozzles, cold air ducts, shelves and crucibles in our kilns. RB SiC is formed by infiltrating molten silicon into a porous carbon or graphite preform, where it reacted with oxygen molecules to form silicon carbide. While its hardness and strength may fall below sintered silicon carbide (SSiC), its production costs are less. Furthermore, its thermal stability allows it to be used in applications subject to sudden temperature changes.Silicon carbide ceramic is often utilized in components that demand exceptional wear- and corrosion-resistance as well as temperature stability, such as vehicle armor or bulletproof vests, due to its ability to withstand the impact of high-velocity projectiles. Reaction-bonded silicon carbide (RBSC) can be created through infiltrating molten silicon into a porous C/SiC preform composed of SiC particles and carbon. As carbon and silicon react, secondary SiC forms within each pore space; its amount depends upon factors like its morphology, size and degree of graphitization in the preform. Numerous impregnation stages can be used to tailor carbon morphology and the amount of SiC present in final ceramics, creating sintered silicon carbide with varied properties including thermal conductivity, strength and fracture toughness.this kind sic ceramic stands out with its impressive strength and hardness as well as low density, making it suitable for high temperatures, corrosion, fluid penetration and imperviousness at lower temperatures - features that allow it to withstand thermal shock or wear such as engine components or pumps.
