Product Description Product DescriptionTPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) is called thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber. It is mainly divided into polyester type and polyether type. It has a wide hardness range (60HA-85HD), wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency, good elasticity, and is widely used in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials and other fields. Halogen-free flame-retardant TPU can also replace soft PVC to meet the environmental protection requirements of more and more fields.The so-called elastomer refers to a polymer material with a glass transition temperature lower than room temperature, elongation at break>50%, and good recovery after the external force is removed.Polyurethane elastomer is a relatively special category of elastomers. The hardness range of polyurethane elastomer is very wide, and the performance range is very wide, so polyurethane elastomer is a class of polymer materials between rubber and plastic. It can be heated and plasticized, and there is no or little cross-linking in the chemical structure. Its molecules are basically linear, but there is a certain amount of physical cross-linking. Wear resistanceWhen the material is often subjected to mechanical effects such as friction, scraping, and grinding during use, it will cause its surface to gradually wear out, so the choice of abrasion resistance of the material is very important. TPU plastic raw materials have excellent wear resistance, which is more than five times more wear-resistant than natural rubber, and is one of the preferred materials for wear-resistant products.2. Tensile propertiesThe tensile strength is as high as 70MPa, and the elongation at break can be as high as 1000%.3. Tear performanceThe destruction of elastomers due to the expansion of cracks during application is called tearing. The tear strength is the ability of the material to resist tearing; generally speaking, TPU has a high tear resistance, and the tear strength is very excellent compared with some commonly used rubber and plastics.4. Flex performanceMany plastic materials are prone to breakage under repeated cyclic stress. TPU products can maintain excellent flex resistance in different environments and are one of the best choices among polymer materials.5. Hydrolysis resistanceTPU has good water resistance under turbidity, and will not undergo obvious hydrolysis within 1 to 2 years, especially the polyether series. The polyester series will completely decompose when immersed in water at 50oC for half a year, 70oC for 3 weeks, or 100oC for 3~4 days. This is one of the reasons why TPU is suitable as an environmentally friendly material. For products that need to be in contact with water frequently, it is recommended to use the polyether series.6. High temperature and oxidation resistanceGeneral plastic raw materials are easily oxidized in an environment above 70oC for a long time, and TPU has good oxidation resistance; generally speaking, TPU has a temperature resistance of up to 120oC.7. Oil and chemical resistanceTPU is a highly polar polymer material with little affinity for non-polar mineral oil. It is almost not corroded in fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oil (such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, lubricating oil, etc.); among them, polyester series products have better oil resistance among TPU products; TPU film and sheet have little volume change for grease, and the tensile strength is even higher than the original initial value; it should be noted that if there is a small amount of water in the mineral oil, it will have different degrees of negative impact on the physical properties of the film.8. Low temperature performanceTPU has very good low temperature resistance, usually up to -50oC, and can replace various fields where general PVC cannot be used due to low temperature embrittlement. It is particularly suitable for use in cold-zone related products.9. Air tightnessTPU is very easy to weld using high frequency or hot pressing, so it is widely used in inflatable products. The gas coefficient refers to the rate at which gas passes through a specified area of a sample under a certain temperature and pressure. The permeability of the same material to different gases sometimes varies greatly. Generally speaking, polyester series products have better air tightness than polyether series.10.
