A: EPDM stands for Ethylene - Propylene - Diene Monomer. It is a synthetic rubber made from ethylene, propylene, and a diene monomer. This combination gives it excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, and good chemical stability, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. Q2: What are the main applications of EPDM rubber? A: EPDM rubber is widely used in automotive industry for seals, hoses, and weather stripping due to its durability and resistance to various fluids. In construction, it is applied for roofing membranes, window seals, and expansion joints. It is also used in electrical applications such as cable insulation because of its good electrical properties. Q3: How does EPDM rubber perform in extreme temperatures? A: EPDM has a relatively wide service temperature range. It can maintain flexibility and mechanical properties at low temperatures (down to around - 50°C in some formulations), and it has good heat resistance, withstanding continuous service temperatures up to about 150°C in many cases.
