[8] Its chemical formula is KCI, and its molecular weight is 74.55. It is usually a colorless cubic crystal. The melting point is 790℃, the boiling point is 1500℃, and the density is 1.988g/cm3. It is hygroscopic and easy to agglomerate. It is easily soluble in water, and its solubility increases with the increase of temperature. The aqueous solution is neutral and has a salty taste. It is slightly soluble in glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in ether, concentrated hydrochloric acid, and acetone. It can undergo a displacement reaction with metallic sodium at a high temperature of 850℃, and react with concentrated sulfuric acid to form potassium bisulfate and hydrogen chloride.
