The core technology of this method is the Mannheim reaction furnace. With a century of development, improvements have been continuously made in terms of the materials and structural design of the furnace, as well as in energy conservation and environmental protection. The Mannheim process, currently employed by Hebei Aoliande Chemical Equipment Co., Ltd., is the most mature technology for producing potassium sulfate. It produces potassium sulfate of high quality and grade, with high potassium yield, while also producing high-quality by-product hydrochloric acid. The process used in this project is considered advanced technology.We are specialized in the design, manufacture, installation and technology transfer of production guidance of potassium sulphate production equipment. Based on German Mannheim Furnace, by working over its principle and construction, we improve the construction and material of furnace to achieve even heating, complete reaction and low energy consumption. New material and technology is applied to the part of hydrochloric acid absorption, thus absorption efficiency is enhanced and environmental issue is also well resolved. Its core is a new type of reaction furnace produced by improving the structure of the Mannheim furnace on the basis of the dry roasting method to produce potassium sulfate. The raw materials are poured into the centre of a muffle furnace heated to above 600oC. Potassium sulphate is produced along with hydrochloric acid in a two-step reaction via potassium bisulphate. This method for creating SOP accounts for 50% to 60% of global supply. The Mannheim Process is also the most expensive of the processing techniques due to the high input costs associated with purchasing MOP and sulphuric acid. This means that the final product costs about $500 per ton.The Mannheim process is an important method for the manufacture of hydrogen chloride and potassium sulfate from potassium chloride (table salt) and sulfuric acid in which case the K2SO4 is known as salt cake: 2 KCl + H2SO4 → K2SO4 + 2 HClProduction Process AdoptedThe sulfuric acid flowing out from the lower outlet of the high-position tank is added to the reaction furnace through an electromagnetic flowmeter and an electric control valve. The flow rate is automatically adjusted by a valve set through the Distributed Control System (DCS), maintaining a partial overflow in the high-position tank to stabilize the pressure of sulfuric acid entering the electromagnetic flowmeter. The signal output by the electromagnetic flowmeter automatically adjusts the opening degree of the electric control valve to stabilize and adjust the amount of sulfuric acid added. Subsequently, sulfuric acid and potassium chloride react at a lower temperature in the reaction furnace to form potassium bisulfate. Potassium bisulfate reacts further with potassium chloride at a higher temperature (520-540°C) to produce potassium sulfate. The reaction product, potassium sulfate, is cooled, crushed, screened, and packaged to obtain the final product.DCS Automatic Control SystemDCS Automatic Control System Used in the Project To ensure safe, stable, efficient, and economical operation while reducing labor intensity, Hebei Aoliande Chemical Equipment Co., Ltd has integrated the DCS control system into the project's process design, in line with the characteristics of potassium sulfate production. This system accomplishes the tasks of monitoring, controlling, and managing key production process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and liquid level. The entire process can be operated and controlled through a keyboard. The production process includes a logic control system and interlock protection to safely control hazardous materials in case of disoperation or abnormal conditions. Relevant electrical parameters and the operation/fault, shutdown of major electrical equipment are displayed on computer screens.
