Product Description Product DescriptionIntroductionCommercially Pure Titanium Grade 3 Alloy offers slightly higher mechanical properties than Grade 2, while displaying similar ductility and formability. Generally used where corrosion resistance is a major design factor in chemical production components, marine and airframe applications. It can be used for parts requiring strength up to 400 ° F and oxidation resistance to 600 ° F.Grade 3 Alloy Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy is a general purpose alloy that is non-magnetic, and has excellent corrosion resistance in highly oxidizing to mildly reducing environments and excellent strength to weight ratio. It is a slightly stronger version of grade 2 titanium alloy. It also has good impact properties at low temperatures.CompositionThe chemical composition of grade 3 Alloy Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy is outlined in the following table.ElementContent (%)Titanium, Ti≥ 98.8Iron, Fe≤ 0.30Oxygen, O≤ 0.35Carbon, C≤ 0.080Nitrogen, N≤ 0.050Hydrogen, H≤ 0.015Grade SpecificationGradeUNSDINENASTMAMSTitanium Grade 3UNS R50550 ASTM B337ASTM B338ASTM B381ASTM F67AMS 4900 Physical PropertiesThe physical properties of grade 3 Alloy Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy are tabulated below.PropertiesMetricImperialDensity4.51 g/cm30.163 lb/in3Melting point1680°C3056°FMechanical PropertiesThe following table shows mechanical properties of grade 3 Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy.PropertiesMetricImperialTensile strength585 MPa84800 psiYield strength345 MPa50000 psiPoisson's ratio0.34-0.400.34-0.40Elastic modulus105 - 120 GPa15200 - 17400 ksiElongation at break25%25%Hardness (HV)180-220180-220Thermal PropertiesThe thermal properties of grade 3 Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A Alloy are tabulated below.PropertiesMetricImperialThermal expansion co-efficient (@0.000-100°C/32-212°F)8.60 μm/m°C4.78 μin/in°FThermal conductivity21.97 W/mK152.5 BTU in/hr.ft2.°FFabrication and Heat TreatmentMachinabilityGrade 3 Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy is hard to machine but can be successfully done using slow speeds, high coolant flow, and high feed rates. Tooling should be performed using tungsten carbide designations C1-C4 or cobalt type high speed tools.FormingGrade 3 Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy can be hot or cold formed using power brake, hydropress, stretch or drop hammer methods.WeldingWeldability of grade 3 Unalloyed Ti ("Pure") 65A alloy is rated as excellent.AnnealingAnnealing of this material can be performed by heating to 704°C (1299°F), and then held for 2 h, which should be followed by air cooling. In case intermediate stress relieving is required, the material has to be heated to 482-538°C (900-1000°F) for 45 min.ForgingRough forging can be performed at 907°C (1165°F) and completed at 843°C (1550 °F).Hot WorkingHot working enhances the overall ductility of the material.Cold WorkingCold working features of this material is same as that of a moderately tempered austenitic stainless steel. Post-work annealing is recommended to re-attain favorable performance properties.Key features:High Strength and Weightless: The tensile strength is high. As pure commercial titanium grade, it can be used for high metal objects. Since the weight is comparatively lesser, it is used in aerospace parts.Withstand Low-temperature Resistance: Titanium grade 3 Alloy can withstand extremely low temperature and does not become hard, unlike other metals. No possibility of Thermal Shrink: The thermal expansion in Titanium grade 3 Alloy is half of the stainless-steel capacity. Hence, it does not shrink very easily. Possible alternative grades:Titanium 7: Titanium grade 7 Alloy is known as corrosion-resistant alpha titanium. Its corrosion resistance is high, especially with the mineral acids and brinesTitanium 11: Titanium grade 11 Alloy is mainly used for desalination and other marine application. It removes the salts and minerals easily. Especially it is used for the industrial purifier process.Titanium 12: Titanium grade 12 Alloy is used in chemical industries and for the manufacturing of valves, heat exchangers, and condensers.ApplicationsTitanium Grade 3 Alloy is a pure titanium material that is widely used in the medical field due to its excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The following are its main medical uses:1. Orthopedic implantsApplication: Used to manufacture fracture fixation plates, screws, hip and knee implants, etc.Advantages: High strength and fatigue resistance, suitable for bearing the mechanical load of bones.2. Dental implantsApplication: Used for dental implants, crowns and bridges.Advantages: Good biocompatibility, can be closely integrated with bone tissue, and reduce rejection reactions.3. Cardiovascular implantsApplication: Used for pacemaker housings, stents, etc.Advantages: Corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, suitable for long-term implantation in the human body.4. Craniomaxillofacial surgeryApplication: Used for skull repair plates, maxillofacial implants, etc.Advantages: Easy to shape and adapt to complex anatomical structures.5. Surgical instrumentsApplication: Used to manufacture surgical forceps, scissors, bone drills, etc.Advantages: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, suitable for reuse and sterilization.6. Other medical devicesApplications: Used to manufacture prostheses, external fixators, etc.Advantages: High strength and durability, suitable for long-term use.SummaryTitanium Grade 3 Alloy is an ideal material for medical implants and devices due to its biocompatibility, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, and is widely used in orthopedics, dentistry, cardiovascular and other fields.Surface Treatment ProcessMain Applications Company ProfilePackaging & ShippingFAQ
