Product Description Product Description ISuoChem Color Change Pigment change to Body Temperature Thermochromic Pigment for Textile iSuoChem? Thermochromic pigment is developed by micro-encapsulation technology. It adopts temperature sensitive microcapsules to encapsulate dye and enable color change by temperature rising or falling in a certain range. It can be used repeatedly. It can change color quickly and the color could be fresh and vivid. It has good dispersion. The color change could be reversible or irreversible. Particle size: 3 - 10um. Base Temperature: 5oC, 10oC, 16oC, 31oC, 33oC, 35 °C ,oC, 45oC, 50oC, 65oC.The highest temperature resistance is about 200oC - 230oC (less than 10 minutes). There are mainly Two series:1. change from one color to another color2. change from colorless to one color Detailed PhotosProduct namethermochromic pigment BrandISuoChemColorred, blue, yellow , green, black, orange , peach/etc Particle size2-8umFeaturePowder, odorless, non-toxicMOQno MOQPackagecarton, drum Shipping methodby DHL , Fedex, or by sea for big quantity Applicationtextile, plastic, paint /etc Delivery time5-20 working days as usual, final based on order quantitySampleAvailablePackaging & ShippingPackage: 20/25kg in one carton or drum FAQWhat is thermochromic powder and how does it work?Thermochromic powder is a temperature-sensitive color-changing material prepared using microcapsule technology. It mainly consists of color-changing dyes, color developers, and solvents. At high temperatures, the color-changing dyes and color developers dissolve and disperse in the solvent, making the system appear white; when the temperature decreases, the solvent solidifies, the color-changing dyes and color developers move closer, and under the action of the color developer, the structure of the color-changing dye changes, causing the system to show color. By adjusting the solidification temperature of the solvent, products that change color at different temperatures can be produced. What types of color changes are available for thermochromic powder?Regular products change from colored at low temperatures to colorless at high temperatures. We can also customize products that change from one color to another according to customer needs. For example, there are common types such as purple to red at 31°C (purple below 31°C, red above 31°C, and this color change is reversible). What is the temperature range for the color change of thermochromic powder? We can provide products with color change temperatures ranging from 5°C to 70°C, such as 5°C, 10°C, 16°C, 31°C, 33°C, 43°C, 45°C, 50°C, 60°C, 65°C, 70°C, etc. Other temperature points can also be customized according to your requirements. In which fields can thermochromic powder be applied, and what is the dosage?Ink and coating field: The dosage is 2 - 20 wt%. It can be used for various types of printing (such as screen printing, gravure printing, relief printing, etc.) and can be printed on various materials such as textiles, paper, synthetic films, glass, ceramics, wood, etc.Injection molding field: The dosage is 0.2 - 2 wt%. It is suitable for injection molding and extrusion molding of transparent or translucent plastics such as polypropylene (PP), soft polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC), AS, ABS, and silica gel. It can also be mixed into unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin, plexiglass, or nylon monomers for casting, molding, and curing. What are the requirements for processing temperature when using thermochromic powder? The processing temperature generally needs to be controlled below 200°C, and the maximum should not exceed 230°C. At the same time, the heating time of the material should be shortened as much as possible. Because high temperature and long-term heating will damage the color-changing performance of the pigment. For example, in injection applications, avoid temperatures exceeding 230°C.What precautions should be taken when using thermochromic powder?Do not use high-polarity solvents, such as ethanol, to prevent penetration from affecting the internal environment of the capsule and thus the color-changing performance. In the process of injection molding and extrusion, other fillers or ordinary pigments (such as titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, carbon black, etc.) should not be used in the plastic at the same time, otherwise, the color-changing effect will be shielded.During casting, molding, and curing, the thermochromic powder should be first added to unsaturated polyester, plexiglass, or nylon monomers and stirred to disperse evenly, then the initiator or curing agent is added to start the polymerization or cross-linking reaction to avoid pigment particle wrapping and residual bubbles in the system.Choose cross-linking agents or curing agents carefully. During the cross-linking and curing of epoxy resins and unsaturated polyester resins, internal shrinkage stress may be generated, causing the shell of the thermochromic powder microcapsule to break and lose its color-changing performance (this occurs more frequently when the curing thickness of epoxy resin is greater than 0.2 mm and polyamine curing agents are used).Do not use high-shear equipment such as internal mixers, kneaders, high-speed dispersers, and twin-screw extruders for premixing plastic particles and thermochromic powder. These equipment will seriously damage the protective layer on the surface of the thermochromic powder, making it lose its color-changing performance. When preparing color masterbatches, avoid repeated extrusion and granulation operations on the thermochromic powder. In PVC resin formulations, phosphorus-containing stabilizers and plasticizers should be avoided, otherwise, the color-changing injection products will have serious residual color in the decolorized state. What about the light resistance, heat resistance, and aging resistance of thermochromic powder?Thermochromic powder has poor light resistance. It is easy to fade and fail when exposed to strong sunlight, so it is suitable for indoor use. It should avoid strong light and ultraviolet light irradiation to prolong its service life. It can withstand high temperatures of 230°C for a short time (about 10 minutes) and can be used for injection molding and high-temperature curing. However, the thermal stability of the colored and decolored states is different, and the former has higher stability. When the temperature is higher than 80°C, the organic substances constituting the color-changing system start to degrade, so long-term operation in an environment higher than 75°C should be avoided. How should thermochromic powder be stored?Thermochromic powder should be sealed and stored in a closed, dry, and dark place, avoiding direct sunlight. The shelf life of the product is 1 year, and it is recommended to store it at 4 - 25°C. For ocean transportation, it is preferred to choose refrigerated containers. Can samples be provided for testing first?Yes, we are happy to provide samples for your testing. You can contact our customer service staff to learn about the specific sample application process and related fees (if applicable). Can technical support be provided if I encounter problems during use?Of course, if you have any technical problems during the use of thermochromic powder, you can contact our professional technical team at any time, and we will do our best to provide you with solutions and technical guidance. It is recommended that you conduct a small test before official use. If you have any questions during the small test, you can also communicate with us in a timely manner.
