New material and technology is applied to the partof hydrochloric acid absorption, thus absorption efficiency is enhanced and environmentalissue is also well resolved.Mannheim ProcessThe most common method of producing potassium sulfate is the Mannheim Process,which is the reaction of potassium chloride with sulphuric acid at high temperatures. Theraw materials are poured into the centre of a muffle furnace heated to above 600oC.Potassium Sulfate is produced along with hydrochloric acid in a two-step reaction viapotassium bisulphate. This method for creating SOP accounts for 50% to 60% of globalsupply. The Mannheim Process is also the most expensive of the processing techniquesdue to the high input costs associated with purchasing MOP and sulphuric acid. This meansthat the final product costs about $500 per ton.The Mannheim process is an importantmethod for the manufacture of hydrogen chloride and potassium sulfate from potassiumchloride (table salt) and sulfuric acid in which case the K2SO4 is known as salt cake:2 KCI + H2SO4 →K2SO4 +2 HCITechnical Advantage1.
