Typically, a standard arc flame induces carbonization on the material's surface until it becomes conductive. The time taken for the arc to cease is measured in seconds. It then gradually shortens, culminating in a continuous arc with increasing current. The material undergoes progressively harsh arc conditions, ultimately leading to failure.
