Product Description 1: Brief Introduction Of 1060 Aluminium/Aluminum Round Bar 1060 aluminium alloy is an aluminium-based alloy in the "commercially pure" wrought family (1000 or 1xxx series). It isfundamentally very similar to 1050 aluminium alloy,with the difference coming down to 0.1% aluminium by weight. However,while both 1050 and 1060 are covered by the same ISO standard, they are covered by different ASTM standards.As a wrought alloy, it is typically formed by extrusion or rolling. It is commonly used in the electrical and chemical industries,on account of having high electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and workability. It has low mechanical strengthcompared to more significantly alloyed metals. It can be strengthened by cold working, but not by heat treatment.Alternatedesignations include Al99.6 and A91060.Hardening:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy can be hardened only from cold working.Tempers H18, H16, H14 and H12 are determinedbased on the amount of cold working imparted to this alloy.Annealing:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy can be annealed at 343°C (650°F) and then cooled in air.Cold Working:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 has excellent cold working characteristics and conventional methods are used to readily coldwork this alloy.Welding:Standard commercial methods can be used for Aluminium / Aluminum 1060 alloy. The filter rod used in this welding processwhenever needed should be of AL 1060. Good results can be obtained from the resistance welding process performed onthis alloy through trial and error experimentation.Forging:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy can be forged between 510 to 371°C (950 to 700°F).Forming:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy can be formed in an excellent manner by hot or cold working with commercial techniques.Machinability:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy is rated with fair to poor machinability, especially in the soft temper conditions. Themachinability is much improved in the harder (cold worked) tempers. Usage of lubricants and either high-speed steeltooling or carbide are recommended for this alloy. Some of the cutting for this alloy can also be done dry.Heat Treatment:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy does not harden by heat treatment and it can be annealed after the cold working process.Hot Working:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy can be hot worked between 482 and 260°C (900 and 500°F).Applications:Aluminium/Aluminum 1060 alloy is widely used in the manufacture of railroad tank cars and chemical equipment.2: Chemical Composition The aluminum industry has created a system using a four-digit numerical designation to identify wrought aluminum alloys. The first digit indicates the major alloying element. The second digit indicates whether there was a modification in the basic alloy. The third and fourth digit indicates the specific alloy.
