It is essential because you have to get under the vehicle to inspect the steering and suspension before you check the alignment. While any ordinary lift or even a floor jack can be used for prealignment inspections, adjustments or repairs, for quick turnaround and maximum productivity, you need a specialized lift for doing wheel alignments. Alignment lifts incorporate a number of special features. These include built-in turn plates and skid plates. Turn plates are used to check toe-out and caster when the wheels are steered to either side. Slip plates are necessary with independent rear suspensions so the suspension can settle to its normal ride height. Does hydraulic fluid come with the car lifts?Due to current DOT and insurance laws regarding the transport of hydraulic oils (DOT Section 1 -Hazardous Ingredients; DOT Section 2 - Fire and Explosion Hazards and DOT Section 3 - Health Hazards) the required hydraulic fluid is to be supplied by the end-user, only. Three Horses car lifts are designed to operate using standard 10-weight, non-foaming, non-detergent hydraulic oil or Dexron-IlATF fluid. It is available at most auto stores. 4. Do l need a special floor or foundation to support my new car lift?Most residential or commercial foundations are strong enough to support Three Horses car lifts. However, it is important to adhere to concrete specifications. A level floor is suggested for proper installation and level lifting. With proper shimming, small differences in floor slopes may be compensated for. lf a floor is of unstable slope, consider a survey of the site or the possibility of pouring a new level concrete slab.
