Colloidal palladium The earliest colloidal palladium was invented by Shipley [6], which was prepared by the reaction of palladium chloride with stannous chloride. The most important feature of the colloidal palladium activation solution is that the sensitization and activation are concentrated in the impregnation process of a solution. Reducing agents include sodium hypophosphate, formaldehyde, ascorbic acid, dimethylamine borane, sodium phosphite, sodium borohydride, hydrazine hydrate and stannous compounds, of which SnCl2 is the most commonly used. Pd/Sn colloidal catalyst is the most widely used colloidal palladium in industry. It is prepared by the reaction of PdCl2 and SnCl2 in acidic solution. The colloidal core is palladium, and the outer layer is hydrated divalent and quadruvalent tin ions, and excessive Sn2+ plays a key role in the stability of the catalytic solution. Modern colloidal catalysts also contain large amounts of acid or salt.
